The ITRP Institute generally does not have a direct relationship with individuals whose personal data is submitted by customers to the ITRP service. The ITRP Institute does not collect personal information on behalf of its customers, and the ITRP Institute does not determine how its customers use such data.
Having said that, the ITRP Institute recognizes the individual’s right to access their data and instructs individuals whose data is being processed by the ITRP Institute to refer all requests concerning their data to the customer of the ITRP service that controls the data.
The ITRP Institute also supports the opportunity for individuals to exercise their choice in determining the sharing of personal information with third parties and limiting its use to the purpose for which it was collected. As a data processor, however, the ITRP Institute cannot extend that choice directly to the individual and must refer all opt-in or opt-out requests to its customers who control that data.
The ITRP Institute does not share, sell, rent, or trade data that its customers submit to the ITRP service. Such data may only be accessed by the ITRP Institute with the express permission of the customer and then only for the purpose of diagnosing technical problems with the ITRP service, or monitoring the technical quality of the ITRP service. The ITRP Institute is potentially liable for appropriate onward transfers of personal data to third parties.
Safeguarding the privacy of a customer’s data requires the customer’s cooperation. For example, customers of the ITRP service are responsible for the access they offer their users to their data. ITRP customers are also responsible for the quality, integrity, reliability, and appropriateness of data submitted to the ITRP service and must comply with applicable laws in using the ITRP service.
The ITRP Institute maintains appropriate administrative, physical, and technical safeguards to help protect the confidentiality and integrity of the data its customers submit to the ITRP service. However, the security of customer data can never be guaranteed, given the nature of the Internet. The ITRP Institute is not responsible for any interception, change or loss of customer data. Customers of the ITRP service are responsible for protecting themselves against unauthorized access to their passwords and computers.
